New District Court Rules come into force on 1 November 2009.  They will apply to claims filed after that date, with all existing proceedings governed by the current Rules.  The review of the Rules has occurred because District Court Judges and Rules Committee have determined that the existing procedural process is too slow and cumbersome and does not properly meet the demand for access to affordable justice.
